Deputies Dynamite Snow Caverns
A 5-man team from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office and the US Forest Service have dynamited a snow cavern on Mt. Timpanogos where a hiker was killed earlier this week.
Utah County sheriff Mac Holley said the team dynamited the cavern where the body of Terence L. Brown, 29, a US Geological Survey employee was found Monday.
Holley said brown was alone on a recreational hike Monday when he fell through weak ice into the cavern. He apparently died of head injuries, Holley said.
He said two other hikers were killed at the same site two years ago.
Holly said the team blasted the cavern open placing it in clear view of hikers.
