Timpanogos Hike to Be Held on July 17th and 18th
Provo, July 1 – The 14th Annual Timpanogos Hike to the top of Utah’s wonder mountain will be taken on July 17 and 18, according to announcements that have been made by Brigham Young University. The Fox News Service according to a telegram received from them will have a motion picture camera on the hike to take pictures of this great annual outing.
Guides and other people who know, concede that the Timpanogos Hike is the greatest organized hike to the top of a mountain 12, 000 feet high in the world. On the night of July 16 there will be a hikers frolic on the streets of Provo. A musical program and band concert and free street dancing will be features of this frolic, although the parade of hikers will be the great event.
On July 17 the hikers will go to Aspen Grove for the great bonfire program, which is always held the evening before the hike. This program is as interesting as the hike itself. Last year 2,500 people enjoyed this unique outdoor festival. The hike itself will be staged July 18. An excelent [sic] trail has been constructed by the Forest Service, assisted a little by students at the B.Y.U., from Aspen Grove to the top of the mountain. Any robust person who will take plenty of time can easily reach the summit.
On account of the fact that the trail winds along the side of sparkling streams of water, through countless flowers of many hews [sic], beneath great cliffs and towering pines, makes this hike delightful as a recreational feature. The view from the summit of Timpanogos and the slide down the glacier are among the fine memories of a life time. This great hike is just a big gathering of lovers of outdoors. No one makes a penny out of it, every one enjoys it and it is rapidly becoming famous throughout the nation.
Those who wish to attend, may drive their own cars to Aspen Grove or they may come to Provo on the railroads and go to Aspen Grove by truck. Further information may be had from the Brigham Young University and from the Chambers of Commerce of the Utah County Towns.
